True, this series is "dated" (typical 70's hairstyles, clothing, music.) and the format was overdone. And at the same time, I watch ed these shows as an adult, and realized that this series was a unique blend of bad lip-syncing, repetitive formats and cleverly written comedy routines. I watched these shows and relived my childhood once again. all packaged nicely in this 3 disc DVD set.

Over time, memories of this show had slipped into obscurity. One of them was "The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show". The summer of 1974 saw a popular trio emerge onto the American music scene. The material is imaginative but can be a bit overwhelming in one setting as some of it is dated and much of it somewhat grating for adult viewers. Stretched across three generous DVDs including bonus tracks, this huge package has a lot to offer and, yes, their biggest hit, 1974's "So You Are A Star", is included. The Beatles/Monkees influenced tunes provide a much needed break from the spitfire pace of all the action - and may be the most appealing aspect of this treasure trove of lost television. Bill, Brett and Mark exhibit their impeccable vocals on the lip-synched renditions of their music - always with matching clothes, three guitars and sugary sweet vocal stylings. There's plenty of fast-paced action shots and tons of insanity which subsides somewhat when the brothers perform their pop songs. These shows are very colorful, the 1974/1975 program dipped in pastels and even psychedelia from eight years prior, though the wardrobe and haircuts put the boys smack dab in the middle of the 1970s. Even Andy Griffith and Danny Thomas in their interesting guest appearances slip into over the top performances which appear geared towards adolescent minds that need larger explanations of the skits.
